Guy N. Harrison was born in Longview, Texas where he attended Longview High School. He received his Bachelor of Buriness Administration degree from Southern Methodist University in 1968 after which he served with the United States Army, serving a one (1) year tour of duty in Vietnam. He received his law degree from Southern Methodist University in 1973 and immediately began practicing law in Longview, Texas. he was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in 1978.
His service to the State Bar of Texas has extended from serving on the local grievance committe to the State Bar of Texas board of directors where he was elected chairman of the board in 1997. In 2002 he was sworn in as the 122nd President of the State Bar of Texas, serving the lawyers of Texas through the legislative sunset process in the 2003 legislative year.
Mr. Harrison serves on the executive council of the National Conference of Bar Presidents, serves as a member of the House of Delegates of the ABA and is one of the appointed commissioners to sit on the Texas Access to Justice Commission.
